Sustainability teaching using case-based debates

Purpose Given today’s pressing societal challenges, business schools are increasingly expected to incorporate sustainability in their curricula. Yet, while research on corporate is the rise, there less innovation teaching methods as most institutions rely traditional teach classroom. This paper aims present case-based debate an appropriate method for exposing students complexity of issues. Design/methodology/approach The pedagogical background case and have been analyzed provide integrated understanding benefits combining two debate. Building authors’ experiences from using debates classroom, describes what a case-debate how it can be implemented. Findings offers practical tool that used other educational institutions. Case-based elicit active participation, support development students’ critical thinking skills improve reflexivity by compelling seriously actively engage with opposing viewpoints given issue. Originality/value presents hybrid approach combines those in-class has received little attention practice but serve multiple objectives relevant teaching.
